Cs CONTAMINATION IN BELGIUM AFTER THE CHERNOBYL ACCIDENT BY IN-SITU GAMMA SPECTROMETRY
نویسندگان
چکیده
The residual radiocesium concentration, more than 10 years after the Chernobyl accident, is measured at different sites on the Belgian territory by means of in-situ -spectrometry. A possible link between the rainfall at the beginning of May 1986 and the actual cesium concentration is investigated. The radiological impact of this contamination, even in the most affected regions in the Ardennes, is very small (appr. 6 μSv per year).

ABSTRACT: In april 1986 nuclear accident of Chernobyl's reactor (Unit.No4) released a significant amounts (50 Mci) of highly dangerous radioactive materials into the atmosphere. Undoubtedly, some of these radionuclides have long lives and can contaminate the environment for,far distances Thus, it is highly important to measure presence of radionuclides in air ,water soil and agriculture product...

In this report, we have reviewed the basic features of the accident processes and radioactivity releases that occurred in the Chernobyl accident (1986) and in the Fukushima-1 accident (2011). The Chernobyl accident was a power-surge accident that was caused by a failure of control of a fission chain reaction, which instantaneously destroyed the reactor and building, whereas the Fukushima-1 acci...

To evaluate the environmental contamination and contributory external exposure after the accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP), the concentrations of artificial radionuclides in soil samples from each area were analysed by gamma spectrometry. Six artificial radionuclides ((131)I, (134)Cs, (137)Cs, (129m)Te, (95)Nb and (136)Cs) were detected in soil samples around FNPP. Calculated...
متن کاملMeasurements and Modelling of 137Cs Migration into Various Types of Soil
The behaviour and migration of long-lived radioisotopes is an important part of information in the prediction of the consequences of radioactive contamination in agricultural areas. The soil contamination in Central and Eastern Europe after the Chernobyl accident has been high enough to study the vertical migration of radiocaesium under natural conditions. In the project presented here, the dis...

Background: Turkey, especially the northern part of it, was one of the countries which were contaminated by the Chernobyl accident. Rize is a city located in the Northeastern district of Turkey which was heavily influenced by the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Materials and Methods: In this study, the activity concentrations of natural (226Ra, 232Th, 40K) and artificial (137Cs) were measurem...
